Christopher J. Dean was part of a Jesuit Dallas soccer dynasty that captured three TCIL State Championships while piecing together a 72-game undefeated streak. As the team captain his senior year, Dean was named Dallas Morning News Preseason Player of the Year, and after the season, Gatorade High School Player of the Year for the state of Texas. One of eight finalists for Gatorade National Player of the Year honors, Dean was selected to the U.S. Junior National Team.
Dean attended the University of Notre Dame on an athletic scholarship. As a senior captain, he led the Irish to both a top 20 national ranking and a berth in the NCAA Championship Tournament. A two-time All-Conference selection (1993 and 1994), 1994 NSCAA Scholar-Athlete and 1995 CoSIDA Academic All-America honoree, Dean was the recipient of the Byron V. Kanaley Award during his senior year, a designation granted to the top student-athlete at Notre Dame in each graduating class and one of the University’s most prestigious awards.
