Despite transferring to Jesuit Dallas just prior to his junior year, Glenn Gehan paced the Rangers to two TCIL State Swimming & Diving Championships, while winning six individual state titles and combining to capture another four relay championships.

In the summer of his junior year, Gehan was the Junior National Olympic champion in the 50 and 100-meter freestyle events. Prior to his senior year, he was invited to participate in the Olympic training camp. As a senior in 1982, Gehan was ranked as the No. 2 swim recruit in the United States.

Gehan accepted an athletic scholarship to University of Southern California, where he earned All-American honors in the 200 IM (1984). During his sophomore year at USC, Gehan was ranked as the fastest 200-yard freestyle swimmer in the United States.
