Gus Pellizzi lettered all four years on the Jesuit varsity tennis team. As captain of the team for three years, Pellizzi was not only the No. 1 ranked player on the team but also the TCIL state singles champion three years in a row. He was undefeated in singles as a senior, state-ranked in his age group and led the team to victory in the state championship.
Pellizzi received a tennis scholarship to Rice University and was a four year letterman as well as team captain on the nationally-ranked Rice tennis team. He helped lead the team to the Southwest Conference Championship and was a two-time conference doubles champion. His last two years at Rice the team finished third and fourth, respectively, at the NCAA Division I Championships.
Following graduation from Rice and before having his tennis career cut short by a back injury, Pellizzi joined the international pro circuit playing in almost every country in the world.
