Jerry Taliaferro was one of the first great guards in Jesuit’s storied basketball history. A clutch long-range shooter, Taliaferro led the Rangers to back-to-back TCIL State Championships in 1962 and 1963. He was named both All-District and All-State following his senior campaign. After graduating from Jesuit, Taliaferro was recruited to play basketball at Division II Regis University (Colo.). He transferred to DePaul University after a two-year stay in Colorado, where he graduated in 1967.

Following his playing career, Taliaferro spent six years making coaching stops at Corpus Christi Catholic High School, St. Thomas (Houston) and Bishop Lynch, before serving as athletic director at Bishop Lynch from 1973-78.
