Wilson, an intimidating frontcourt marshal, was a three-year letter winner and Texas Christian Interscholastic League (TCIL) basketball state champion during his sophomore year, helping a 16-6 Ranger basketball team capture their final TCIL basketball title before the program’s move to the UIL. Earning Most Valuable Player honors as a junior and senior (2001, 2002), Wilson was named to the USA Global Games team during his final two seasons on the 28 acres, the only basketball player to accomplish the feat, securing a gold medal in 2002.

During his phenomenal senior season, Wilson was a heavily touted recruit, listed as a top 100 prospect in the country by Rivals, a top 100 national finalist for McDonald’s All-American, and one of the top 10 college-bound athletes in Texas by Texas Hoops. Wilson eventually decided to attend the University of Illinois, joining the Fighting Illini during their 2003 Big 10 Conference Championship and subsequent NCAA Tournament appearance. Wilson transferred to Wichita State after his freshman season in Illinois, and was named to the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) All-Newcomer team in 2005.

While Wilson donned the Black and Gold, the Shockers began to become a consistent MVC conference championship contender, culminating with a Missouri Valley Conference title and trip to the Sweet 16 in 2006. Wilson earned MVC All-Conference honors in 2006 and 2007, was named a team captain during his senior season, and led the Shockers to a Top 10 ranking during his final year.

After departing Wichita State, Wilson took his talents overseas, joining the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to play professionally for several teams, including TBB Trier (Germany), WBC Kraftwerk Wels (Austria) and Elitzur Yavne (Israel). In 2010, Wilson won the Hungarian National Championship as a member of Zalakeramia ZTE.
