In the late 1970s, Michael continued the “Lucido tradition” of quarterbacking Ranger football teams, a tradition started by brothers Carl ’74 and Victor ’75. A three-year letterman in football, Michael helped lead the 1978 Jesuit Rangers to its tenth TCIL State Football Championship over Central Catholic. Named All-District and All-State Honorable Mention his junior year, Michael continued the quarterbacking role his senior year and added to that responsibility, returning punts and playing defensive back in passing situations. In the 1979 state championship game against St. Gerard, Michael had four interceptions, one being a 60 yard “touchdown” that was called back because of a defensive penalty. His senior year, team captain and MVP Michael Lucido was recognized as District Offensive Player, both All-District Quarterback and All-District Defensive Back, All- State Defensive Back and was named to the Dallas Morning News’ All-Metro as second team quarterback.
A four- year letterman in baseball, Michael was Sophomore of the Year and both All-District and All- State his junior and senior years. Team captain and team MVP his senior year, Michael was selected to play in the Ex-Pro’s Texas High School All-Star Game at Arlington Stadium.
After receiving a baseball scholarship to McLennan Junior College as a middle infielder, Michael led the team in hitting his freshman year with a .416 average and played in the 1981 National Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. The next year he collected First Team All-Junior College World Series honors and was named the 1982 National Junior College Student Athlete of the Year.
In 1985, Michael graduated with a degree in physical therapy from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Since graduation, he has worked in several private offices and sports medicine clinics. He returned to Jesuit as a member of the athletic staff from 1985-1991 and in 1997 was the therapist for the Dallas Cowboys.
He and his wife, Melanie have 2 boys including John Michael ’14
