“The Ghost," Porfirio Duron played varsity football for four years and varsity baseball for two years. He was a member of the first Jesuit football team to beat a DISD school. The highlight of his senior year was scoring six touchdowns against St. John’s (La.), during a year in which he scored 22 touchdowns for the season. He was captain of the football team in 1953, made All-Greater Dallas in 1952 and 1953, and named Catholic All-American in 1953.
After grauduating from Jesuit, Duron played college football at St. Benedict’s College in Kansas and served as a scout in the Notre Dame football program.
