Three-time varsity letterman Tom Higgins, who merited recognition on numerous all-district, all-state, and all-Catholic football teams, was a 1964 Catholic All-American. He was also a multi-time letterman in basketball and track while at Jesuit, but after graduation, accepted a football scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin, where playing for legendary coach Darrell Royal, he was a two-time varsity letterwinner and saw action at a variety of positions, including wide receiver, tight end, and safety.
