Transferring to Jesuit his sophomore year, Tommy started and lettered at linebacker for three seasons.
Tommy was named Texas Catholic Sophomore Player of the Year and two years later, the Texas Catholic Defensive Player of the Year and a member of their Diocesan Dream Team. His senior year he recorded 110 unassisted tackles for a team that not only held opponents scoreless in five games but allowed them only 100 points of offense in a twelve- game season that culminated in the Rangers winning the 1967 TCIL AAA State Championship. A tri-captain on that championship team, Tommy was recognized numerous other accolades, including All-State, All- Metropolitan, All- Greater Dallas, as well as both All-Private and All-District two consecutive years.
The varsity’s “Best Tackler” was also an All-District first baseman, Tommy playing varsity three springs and lettering two. But it was his football prowess that helped him receive a scholarship to the University of New Mexico where he played for the Lobos.
Tommy has remained active in sports and the Jesuit community. He coached YMCA, North Dallas Chamber of Commerce baseball, St. Rita Catholic School football, and served as a board member and tournament director for Dallas Inter Soccer Club.
Living in Dallas with Sharon and is the father of Clayton ’93 and Kevin ’01, both of whom lettered in football as Jesuit Ranger quarterbacks.
