Paul McDaniel has been the junior counselor at Jesuit Dallas for the past 21 years, while he is in his ninth year as the head coach of the tennis program. McDaniel has guided the Rangers to five district spring team titles, including three district championships in the last four years.

Prior to taking a 13-year break from coaching when he arrived at Jesuit, McDaniel was the tennis coach for seven years at Waco Midway, where he led the team to six district championships and one regional title. Also at Midway, McDaniel coached the UIL 4A state champion boy’s doubles team in 1987 and the 4A state singles champion in 1992.

Under McDaniel’s tutelage, several Jesuit players have gone on to play NCAA Division I tennis, including Cameron Nash (TCU), Nick Thompson (Creighton), Zack Vander Heiden (Western Colorado), and Max Montague, who helped lead Texas A&M to the 2014 SEC Championship.
