Bowling Scores Two Wins to Finish Fall Season Undefeated

Jesuit bowling enters the winter break with an unblemished, 5-0 record after a pair of key division wins over the last week of competition. The Rangers upended L.D. Bell, 11-4, on Dec. 8 before ending the fall season with an 8-7 triumph against Lewisville on Dec. 11.

vs. L.D. Bell – Dec. 8, 2018

A 7-0 sweep of match play set the tone for a dominant performance by the Rangers. Freshman Hayden Montpas erupted for a 235 in the first game en route to a 357 series while a team-high 438 series from Jack Corrales was punctuated with a 247 in the nightcap. Senior Will Bradford remained unbeaten in match play with a respective 147 and 169 for a 316.

Senior Bryce Clark tacked on a 153 and 184 for a 337 as senior Austin Montpas clinched the sweep with a 394 series. The Rangers would out-score the Raiders, 1,842-1,323 to take a 7-0 lead heading in to Bakers. L.D. Bell edged the Rangers in the first two Baker Games to snap the shutout, but the Rangers clinched the victory with a 208-138 win in the third baker game, taking the aggregate score, 506-460 to win by seven points.

vs. Lewisville – Dec. 11, 2018

The Rangers and Fighting Farmers clashed in match play as the Rangers were able to take a 6-1 lead into Baker Games. Hayden Montpas cruised to a 362-298 win in singles, anchored by a 185 in his second game. Clark averaged a 175.5 over the two games, scoring a 351-316 victory. A team-high 190 in the first game from Austin Montpas paced the senior to a 359-321 win before Corrales scored the final individual win with a narrow, 317-310 victory.

Lewisville looked poised to get back into the game, winning the first baker game, 177-150, but Jesuit clinched the victory with a 161-155 win in the second baker game. Lewisville would win the third baker game and the series, but the rally fell one point shy of the upset win.
