Comeback Win Over Allen Jumpstarts 2018 Season

Jesuit Dallas opened the season with an impressive, 13-5 win over Allen on Saturday at Postell Stadium. After trailing the Eagles by three at the conclusion of the first quarter, the Blue and Gold dominated down the stretch with nine second-half goals to earn their first win of the new season.

The Rangers were anchored by sophomore Tommy Hovivian and senior Teddy Wagner, two Rangers who notched hat tricks to spark the Jesuit offensive effort. Senior David Sprock added two goals while seniors Marshall Ellison, Grayson Hassell, Jack Tabor and sophomore Zachary Reilly found the goal column. Priddy and junior Jacob Jackson led the way with two assists apiece while senior Hank Clements secured a team-leading four ground balls.

How it Happened

  • Allen erupted for three goals in the opening quarter, keeping possession for a majority of the opening moments before scoring the game-opening goal three minutes into the contest. The Eagles added two more goals over the next five minutes to take a 3-0 lead, opening the second quarter with their fourth goal to close an eyebrow-opening run to start the game.

  • Hassell finally got the Rangers on the board with 10:08 remaining in the second, triggering a rally that would see the Rangers tie the contest with seven seconds remaining in the half. Wagner struck twice in the second quarter, taking a feed from Priddy to find twine at the 5:41 mark before scoring his second of the game four minutes later. Priddy found Hovivian in transition to score the equalizer.

  • Less than a minute into the third quarter, Allen scored to take the lead back, but Jesuit Dallas responded with nine unanswered goals to secure the win. Jesuit Dallas dominated down the stretch of the contest, playing a smothering defense that stopped five of Allen's nine clear attempts in the second half.

  • In the third quarter, Jesuit scored five goals to take a 9-5 lead into the final quarter of regulation. Ellison and Jackson started the scoring before Hovivian gave Jesuit a two-goal buffer with his second of the game. Rutgers University commit Sprock and Rilley tallied their first goals of the campaign before Hovivian capped the hat trick with goal to open the fourth.

  • Goals from Wagner, Sprock and Tabor closed the contest as Jesuit outscored Allen, 4-0 in the final quarter to close out the convincing win.
