Bowling Dominates Dual Matches in Loss to Nimitz

Fresh off of a key district win on Saturday, the Jesuit Dallas bowling team looked poised for another major victory after taking a 6-1 lead over Nimitz after the dual meet portion of the schedule. However, the Vikings came charging back in the baker games to hand Jesuit Dallas a 9-6 loss on Jan. 30 at USA Bowl in Dallas, Texas.

The Rangers cruised through dual competition due to a trio of bowlers that rolled aggregate games of 300 or higher. Austin Montpas led the way with a 361, scoring a 203 in his first game to finish above his 165 average and scoring a point for the Blue and Gold. Jack Corrales added a 191 in his second game, the second highest Jesuit Dallas score, to earn a 95-pin win against Nimitz's Drew McGibboney.

Senior Solon Hamer rolled a pair of games over his average, posting 172 and 180 en route to a 352-321 win over Stephen Torres. Bryce Clark closed out the dual meet success with a 294, bowling a 166 in his second game to edge Tommy Snipes by five pins. Jesuit captured the aggregate pin total, 1585-1534, to take a 6-1 lead into baker games.

Nimitz came storming back in the waning moments of the contest, defeating the Rangers by 15 pins in the first baker game before cutting the lead to one point with a 176-138 win in game two. The Vikings completed the comeback with a 153-141 victory in the third baker game.

Jesuit will begin the final two weeks of the regular season with its final home match of the season on Tuesday against Flower Mound Marcus. Dual matches are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
