The Rangers used a dominant second half and some critical fourth-quarter stops to defeat Mary Institute and Saint Louis Country Day School (MICDS) 10-9 on Thursday, March 29 at Postell Stadium. Jesuit bounced back from a loss to The Woodlands with a rebounding effort heading into the final month of the 2018 season.

How it Happened

- The two teams traded punches in the opening quarter, answering goals from Priddy and Wagner to tie the game at 2-2 with 2:02 remaining in the quarter. Sprock got a shot past the Ram goalkeeper with 49 seconds remaining in the quarter to send Jesuit into the second quarter with a one-goal lead.

- MICDS tied the game 93 seconds into the opening quarter, but the Rangers established firm control of the bout with six unanswered goals. Buell, Hassell and Sprock scored two goals apiece over a nine-minute span to propel the Blue and Gold to a six-goal advantage before a late goal from the Rams sent the Rangers into the break with a 9-4 lead.

- In the second half, the Ram defenders limited Jesuit Dallas to one shot to provide the offense the opportunity to cut into the Jesuit advantage. MICDS secured 13 ground balls, went 7-of-9 in clear opportunities and scored on two of four shots on goal, completing a four-goal run to cut the lead to two with 3:44 left in the third. Hassell completed his hat trick with 40 seconds remaining in the quarter to spot the Rangers a three-goal lead heading into the fourth quarter.

- The Rangers' offense was held in check again during the fourth quarter, placing the pressure on the defense to keep the lead intact. MICDS scored at the 9:10 and 5:29 mark to cut the lead to a single goal, but Jesuit was able to shut the door on the Rams down the stretch, going 7-of-8 in clear attempts, including a turnover and clear with a minute remaining that allowed the Rangers the ability to run out the clock in the offensive zone for the victory.
