Santiago Diaz scored a late second-period goal as a stellar performance in goal by junior
William Carney led Jesuit to a 2-1 win over Southlake Carroll on Oct. 10. Jesuit moves to 3-1 on the year after winning its third consecutive one-goal game.

Diaz earned his fifth point of the season with his second goal of the year, recording his first career game-winning goal on the varsity roster to help the Rangers past the Dragons. Diaz added an assist on Jesuit's first goal, scored by junior
Seth Dragojevic. The junior currently leads the team with five goals on the season, all of which have been scored over the last three games. Seniors
Chase Phillips and
Chase Peppard added assists to cap Jesuit's scoring line.

Carney racked up 32 saves during a stellar complete game performance, allowing only one goal to Southlake Carroll in the first period and blanking the Dragons for the remainder of the contest. Jesuit scored with 7:40 remaining in the first period to strike first before Southlake Carroll tied the game with 4:17 remaining in the period.

Diaz scored with 2:01 left on a pass to the slot from Peppard to give Jesuit the lead. Carney excelled down the stretch, making 16 saves in the third period to keep Southlake Carroll away from the equalizing goal.

Jesuit Dallas will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 17 against McKinney. Thursday's clash will mark the first matchup of the year between the two teams as McKinney went 2-0 against the Rangers last year. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at the Children's Health StarCenter in Richardson.
