Hartman, Montpas Hurl Gems as Rangers Beat L.D. Bell, MacArthur

Jesuit Dallas bowling continued its hot start to the season with a pair of convincing wins last week. The Rangers opened the win with a 14.5-0.5 win over L.D. Bell in the team's home opener on Monday before shutting out MacArthur, 15-0, on Saturday.

A near sweep of singles play and dominant baker game performance propelled Jesuit to a convincing win over the Blue Raiders on Monday at USA Bowl. Led by a second-game, 267 from sophomore Hayden Montpas, Jesuit was able to outscore L.D. Bell by over 600 pins in match play.
 
Montpas won his match, 438-196, with a 171 in the first game followed by a 267 in the night cap. Montpas started the second game with a six-bagger, and finished the game clean by picking up a spare on his third ball of the 10th frame after converting his ninth strike of the game to start the frame. Senior Silas Hartman scored the team's second-highest game of the event with a 216 in game two to finish match play with a 396-257 victory to move his record to 2-5.1.5 on the season. Hartman opened up his first game with a turkey before kicking off the second game with a hambone, hitting 16 marks over the two games to secure his highest score of the season.

Senior Matthew Vincent rolled a 170 and 130 en route to an 80-pin victory, senior Jack Corrales tacked on a 193 and 190 to earn his third match point of the season. Vincent entered the ninth frame with a 121 score in game one, but rolled back-to-back strikes and capped the 10th frame with a spare to cap a 49-pin swing over the final two frames. Seniors Joey Berven and Jack Holloran split the final match play point with a 323-323 decision. Berven converted marks in the first five frames of his game as Holloran alternated strikes and spares between the fourth and eighth frames.

Jesuit continued to dominate in baker games, securing a 457-368 in the baker games. Jesuit capped the performance with a 161 in the final baker game, besting the Blue Raiders by 48 pins.

The Rangers secured their first shutout of the season behind a 279 masterpiece from Montpas, securing a 15-0 win over MacArthur on Sunday afternoon. Montpas finished his second game 10 strikes, a spare a single pin on the bonus ball to secure the league's highest score of the season en route to a 467-290 victory in match play.

Montpas closed the first game with a hambone to push his final total to 188. The sophomore hit six marks over the final four frames and converted nine marks during the opening game. Montpas erupted out of the gate in the second gate, hitting a strike and spare to set up a big game. Nine consecutive strikes allowed the score to balloon to a team season-high 279 at the conclusion of the bout.

Senior Joey Berven added a season-high 225 as classmate Jack Holloran threw a 162 in the second game for his highest score of the morning. Berven opened his game with a turkey, taking a clean game into the final ball of the 10th frame. Holloran finished his dual match with a 296-198 victory, seniors Matthew Vincent and Will Risinger teamed up for a 211-144 win, Berven secured a 379-167 triumph and senior Silas Hartman scored a 252-215 decision.

Jesuit continued its run with a dominant performance in the baker games, sweeping their way to a 527-283 win. Jesuit has averaged 160 score in bakers this season, 15 pins above second place Flower Mound Marcus.

Jesuit will continue the season with a home match against Flower Mound Marcus on Monday, Nov. 18. The Rangers defeated the Marauders, 12-3, in the season-opener on Oct. 26.
