The Rangers withstood an offensive onslaught from Frisco in the semifinal of the AT&T Metroplex Hockey League Tournament, but a last-minute push fell moments short in a 2-1 loss to the tournament's top seed on Thursday at the StarCenter in Plano. The team will conclude the 2019 season at the USA Hockey Nationals from Mar. 28 to Apr. 1 in Cleveland, Ohio.

Matthew Wrobel scored the team's lone goal off of assists from fellow fourth year
Joseph Van Beek and sophomore
Seth Dragojevic. Junior
Jack Rahlfs finished the contest with 38 saves, playing a stellar 43 minutes in the goal to give Jesuit a fighting chance against the offensively-minded Frisco squad.
Â
In the first period, Jesuit killed off Frisco's first power play of the game six minutes into the contest but were unable to cash in on a man-up opportunity of their own with 3:02 remaining in the opening stanza. The Rangers were outshot, 15-3, in the first period but a stellar opening 15 minutes by Rahlfs sent the game into the second tied, 0-0.
Â
Jesuit continued to hold Frisco scoreless throughout the second period, withstanding a 17-shot outburst before Frisco scored with 3:06 left in the quarter to take a 1-0 lead. Frisco would take a 2-0 lead 21 seconds into the third period on a deflected shot, but Jesuit limited Frisco to eight shots in the third after recording 32 shots over the first two periods.
Â
With 2:01 remaining in the contest and the net empty, the Rangers finally broke through after a scrum just outside the crease resulted in a loose puck which was fired over the goal line by Wrobel to put the Rangers in position to force overtime. However, several last-second opportunities by the Rangers were turned aside by the Frisco defense as Jesuit was held scoreless over the final two minutes.
