Jesuit Dallas lacrosse saw its season come to a close on Saturday as Episcopal School of Dallas defeated the Rangers, 5-4, in the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) State Semifinal at Ron Poe Stadium in McKinney, Texas. The Rangers battled back from a one-goal deficit to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles notched the game-winning goal with 1:17 remaining to earn a state title berth while ending Jesuit's 2019 campaign.

Sophomores
Henry Suarez,
Sam Teachout joined seniors
Peter Buell and
Jacob Jackson in the scoring column for the Blue and Gold as the two long-time rivals engaged in a low-scoring and physical matchup reminiscent of the regular season matchup, an 8-7, double-overtime win for the Rangers in late April. Senior
William Moran closed his Jesuit career with another stellar performance in the cage, making several critical first half saves and keeping the Eagles at bay with several critical stops in the second half, providing Jesuit Dallas the opportunity to tie the game down the stretch in the fourth quarter.
Â
Jackson opened the scoring for the Rangers after ESD scored four minutes into the first quarter, taking a feed from junior
Tommy Hovivian and sending a shot past Eagles' netminder Auden Rudelson to tie the contest at 1-1. Suarez snagged the ensuing faceoff and scored in transition, handing Jesuit its first lead of the game, 2-1, with 4:57 remaining in the first.Â
Â
In the second quarter, ESD scored two unanswered goals while holding Jesuit without a tally en route to taking a 3-2 lead into halftime. The Eagles notched another goal 1:15 into the third to take a two-goal lead, holding Jesuit without a goal for most of the third quarter. Jesuit finally broke through with 2:18 left in the quarter as Teachout fired home his first goal of the game off of a feed by Hovivian, sending the Rangers into the fourth quarter trailing by one.
Â
With 10:17 left in the fourth, the Rangers tied the game on a goal by Buell. The senior Rollins College commit fought his way past the Ranger defense and threw a shot past the outstretched stick of Rudelson to tie the game. Jesuit had several opportunities down the stretch to take the lead, but ESD scored the go-ahead tally with 1:17 left.
Â
The Rangers had one final opportunity, holding the ball in the offensive zone with 10 seconds remaining and a man-up, but a final save by Rudelson sent ESD to the state title game and ended Jesuit's season.
