The Ranger tennis team used a 4-2 advantage in doubles to secure an 11-6 win over Prosper on Sept. 9. Jesuit continued its run through UIL District 9-6A with a 20-2 setback to Allen which saw the Blue and Gold fall just short despite forcing tiebreakers in 13 of 15 singles matches.

Against Prosper, Jesuit swept the top three flights in singles and doubles, punctured by a dominant, 6-0, 6-0 win at to-flight singles by senior
Reid Staples, a 6-2, 6-2 victory at second-flight by junior
Matthew Cole and a hard fought, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 win at No. 3 singles by junior
Jake Darlak. Staples and Cole teamed up for a 6-1, 6-3 win at top-flight doubles, followed by a 6-4, 6-1 at second-flight by Darlak and junior
Connor Bryant alongside a 2-6, 6-3, 10-8 decision in favor of juniors
Carl Wilson and
Jack Murray.

Diego Elizondo (8-2) and freshman
Cruz Hoitsma (8-3). Ashmore and Elizondo came back from a one-set deficit to win fourth-flight doubles, 1-6, 6-4, 10-7.

Jesuit battled with Allen and forced tiebreaker sets in eight of 15 singles matches, but the Eagles were able to capture 13 of the 15 singles bouts en route to the decisive win. Cole won second-flight singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Gan-Dy earned a 6-1, first set win en route to a 6-1, 3-6, 10-8 decision.
Jack Murray won the first set of his No. 8 singles match, 4-1, but ultimately fell in a back-and-forth tiebreaker, 18-16.

The Rangers will continue the season next week against Plano (Sept. 17) and McKinney (Sept. 24) before closing the run through District 9-6A on Sept. 27 against Plano East. Dual matches against Highland Park (Oct. 11) and Liberty Christian (Oct. 22) conclude the fall season.
