Victory Over The Woodlands Highlights Jesuit's Run at Crusader Classic

Jesuit Dallas finished its non-district slate with a 1-3 record at the Crusader Classic, hosted by Strake Jesuit on Aug. 26-27 in Houston, Texas. The Rangers closed the first day of the tournament with a 9-4 win over The Woodlands that followed a 16-3 setback to Strake, then dropped bouts to Foster (9-5) and Dawson (10-6) to end the pre-district season with a 6-5 record.

Jesuit's three goals of the contest were scored by junior Teddy Scherer, junior Ben Eppich and sophomore Flyn Hughes. Junior Dominic Arra, junior Cole Kostos and junior Jack Schwetz each recorded an assist while junior goalkeeper Mack Frary picked up six saves in goal.
 
Jesuit Dallas 9, The Woodlands 4
 
The Rangers were propelled by hat tricks from Arra and Scherer en route to a 9-4 win over The Woodlands on Friday. Schwetz found the back of the net twice and a goal from Kostos rounded out the scoring line. Schwetz would tack on a pair of assists to match Arra with a team-high four points, while Frary picked up another double-digit save outing with 10 stops.
 
Foster 9, Jesuit Dallas 5
 
Two goals from Arra and a team-high four points on three assists and a goal by Scherer was not enough to topple Foster as the Rangers dropped a 9-5 decision to open the second day of competition. Hughes and Schwetz scored Jesuit's final two goals while Frary picked up eight saves.
 
Dawson 10, Jesuit Dallas 6
 
Arra led the way with a hat trick against Dawson, as Scherer, Eppich and Schwetz recorded additional tallies for the Blue and Gold. Scherer and Schwetz added one assist apiece to the final box score while Frary secured five saves.

District play begins fo the Rangers as Jesuit will take on Southlake Carroll on Friday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. Jesuit's first home district game will be on Tuesday, Sept. 6 as Jesuit battles Hebron.
