The 2022-23 Jesuit Dallas tennis season is underway with the Rangers securing a 2-1 record after their first three matches against district opponents. After opening the year with a 9-4 win over Berkner on Aug. 16 and a 6-3 triumph over MacArthur on Aug. 19, the Rangers dropped their first contest of the season with a 7-3 setback to Highland Park.

Against the Scots, senior
Alex Park and freshman
Matis Valenta secured victories at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Park picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the top flight, followed by Valenta, who scored a 6-2, 6-0 win. The duo combined to score an additional win in doubles, upending the Scots, 6-2, 6-0.

Against Berkner, freshman
Alec Ramon earned the team's top win with an 8-6 win at No. 2 singles. Additional match winners included freshman
Brooks Spurgin (8-2), sophomore
Aadhi Anbuchezhiyan (8-2), junior
Nico Mejia (8-2), junior
Blake Howells (8-1) and freshman
Walker Heartfield (8-1). In doubles, Spurgin and Voegtle secured an 8-5 win, Mejia and Howells teamed up for an 8-2 victory, and the team of Howells and Anbuchezhiyan teamed up for an 8-1 win.

Voegtle picked up the top win of the MacArthur match with an 8-4 victory at second-flight singles, followed by wins from Mejia (8-5), sophomore
Neel Manne (8-0) and junior
Henry Bryarly (8-0). The Rangers would secure a pair of wins in doubles as Howells and Mejia earned an 8-3 win before the team of Manne and Bryarly swept third-flight doubles, 8-0.

Jesuit's fall season will continue on Tuesday, Aug. 30 when the Blue and Gold battles Richardson, followed by a Sept. 6 match against J.J. Pearce.
