Comeback Win Sends Jesuit to First UIL District Win in Program History

Junior Dominic Arra scored five goals as a complete team effort vaulted the Jesuit Dallas water polo team back from an early, 3-0 deficit and propelled the Blue and Gold to a 12-8 win over Hebron on Tuesday at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center.

Junior Teddy Scherer scored four goals on the night and junior Jack Schwetz racked up a pair of goals, two assists and three steals for a stellar all-around evening. Junior Mack Frary was strong in goal, finishing the bout with 12 saves. Additional defensive saves were registered by Scherer, junior Cole Kostos and sophomore Flyn Hughes. Hughes would add on Jesuit's final goal of the evening, Scherer tacked on an assist to his stat column alongside two steals, and Frary would pick up a steal of his own on a breakaway situation for Hebron.

The Rangers trailed 3-0 to start the contest and additionally fell behind 4-3 at the start of the third quarter, however, the Rangers pulled away with several well-executed plays, with Schwetz scoring the go-ahead tally to put the Rangers up for good. Jesuit finished the bout with a strong run in the fourth quarter, pulling away for the Hawks to secure the win.

Jesuit will return to the pool on Friday, Sept. 9 as the Rangers will take on Flower Mound at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 10, Jesuit will host a quad meet and compete in three matches beginning at 8 a.m. against Rockwall. The Rangers will finish the evening with showdowns against John Paul II at 11 a.m. and Rockwall Heath at 12 p.m.
