Water Polo Posts 4-2 Record at 2024 Texas Cup

Jesuit Dallas water polo secured a 4-2 record at the 2024 Texas Cup, held from August 22-24 in Lewisville, Texas. The Rangers swept their way through pool play on Thursday before rebounding from an 0-2 record on Friday with two tournament-closing wins on Saturday to place fifth overall.
 
The Rangers began their run with an 11-5 win over Brandeis and 14-13 triumph over Flower Mound on Thursday. On Friday, Jesuit dropped a narrow, 11-10 decision to Foster before falling to Flower Mound Marcus, 16-8 in the first round of the placing tournament. Jesuit opened the final day of competition with a 12-11 win over Prosper before closing out the three-day tournament with a 13-10 win over Foster.
 
Junior Jack Stevens led the way against Brandeis with four goals, followed by three goals from sophomore Sebastian Lazar and additional tallies from seniors Oliver Miller, Luke Wiley, junior Sam Kennington and sophomore Charlie Gall. Senior Alexander Adee led the team with two assists and three steals while senior Jackson Powell earned the win in goal, making two saves. Lazar erupted for seven goals against Flower Mound, matching Gall's season-high scoring output against Hebron on Aug. 12. Senior Flyn Hughes scored four goals and Stevens added three tallies, while Gall and Miller posted five assists apiece. Powell earned his second win of the day with a two-save performance.
 
Lazar scored twice against Foster, Gall added two goals, and additional goals were scored by Hughes, Kennington, Miller and Stevens. Adde led the team with two assists and Powell made eight saves. Gall, Hughes and junior Cayden Bartusek scored two goals apiece against Marcus, with Adee tacking on two assists and Powell recording five saves. 
 
On the final day of the tournament, Gall led the way against Prosper with four goals, while Miller led the team with five points on two goals and three assists. Stevens racked up three goals, Kennington tallied three assists, Powell made four saves and Bartusek secured five saves after taking in over in goal during the second quarter. Hat tricks by Lazar and Stevens paced the Rangers against Foster, with Lazar finishing the game with three assists for a team-high six points. Bartusek finished the contest with six saves to earn his second win of the day.
 
Jesuit will return to action on Thursday, August 29, when the Rangers will host the 2024 Jesuit Dallas Invitational at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center. The Rangers will begin competition against St. Mark's at 5:45 p.m. on Aug. 29.
