Jesuit Dallas cycling returned action on February 1-2 at the 11th Annual Cedar Hill Race Festival. The Rangers were paced by several impressive performances, including a stellar outing by freshman
Nicholas Carter.
The two-day event challenged participants with two eight-lap, 15.2-mile races. During the first race on Saturday, cyclists faced an additional challenge with a steep climb that capped at a max gradient of 14 percent. Carter secured the silver medal in the event, clocking a 46:02.76 to best Peter Wade from Shottenkirk KIA Racing by 0.25 seconds. Senior
Andrew Wilkes finished fifth, senior
Max DeGroote finished sixth and sophomore
Reid Starnes finished eighth.
In Sunday's race, Carter capped his impressive weekend with a third-place finish, crossing the finish line in 43:13.66 amid a pack of six racers that were separated by 1.72 seconds. Wilkes, DeGroote and Starnes finished ninth, 11th and 13th respectively to round out the Ranger lineup.
Jesuit is scheduled to continue the season on Sunday, February 16 at the first installment of the NICA Mountain Bike Race Series. The race will take place in Kilgore, Texas.
