Connor Cole captured his second straight University Interscholastic League (UIL) Regional Championship, dominating the field and winning the Region I-6A Singles Championship on Thursday in McKinney. With the regional championship, Cole will advance to the UIL 6A State Championship on May 15-16 in San Antonio.

Cole's run began with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Arlington Lamar's Jack Wheeler, then continued with a 6-0, 6-3 victory over Emilio Valenzuela from El Paso Franklin. The senior Davidson College commit clinched his berth at the UIL 6A State Championship by capturing a 6-2, 6-2 win against Rock Hill's Geronimo Maya in the championship semifinal, setting the stage for a showdown against second-seed Andre Perez in the championship match. Cole secured his second straight regional championship with a dominant win over Perez, winning both sets, 6-1, 6-1 to punctuate his incredible performance.

Cole will compete in his first match of the state tournament on Thursday, May 15 at 8 a.m. at the Northside Tennis Center in San Antonio. In his first state appearance in 2024, Cole dropped a 6-4, 6-7 (7), 6-3 decision to Katy Seven Lakes's Aidan Xu in the quarterfinals to bring his junior campaign to a close. Cole will enter the match with an undefeated 20-0 mark this year and will look to become the first individual tennis state champion in program history.
