Jesuit Dallas Opens Water Polo Season With Four Wins at Southlake Tournament

The Rangers established the best start in program history at 4-0

SOUTHLAKE, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas water polo team won four games at the Carrol ISD Aquatic Center to start the season over the weekend, including two one-goal victories.

Jesuit (4-0) opened play on Friday with a 10-9 win over Hebron and a 20-7 victory over Rockwall, before coming back on Saturday to claim a 14-11 decision over Fort Bend Travis and 10-9 against Keller. The 4-0 start is the best in program history, besting a 2-0 stretch in the Spring 2022 campaign.

Game 1 - def. Hebron, 10-9
Junior Charlie Gall scored four goals, including the game-winner with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter to complete a come-from-behind win. Hebron led 9-7 with 5:00 remaining before Jesuit tied it at 9-9 on goals from Gall and junior Winston Quinn. That setup Gall's final tally before holding on for the win.

Game 2 - def. Rockwall, 20-7
The Rangers scored the first seven goals of the game and led 13-2 at halftime. Sophomore Knox Brookshire led the team with five goals, an assist and two steals, while Quinn matched him with five goals and Noah Nicosia had four goals, two assists and a steal.

Game 3 - def. Fort Bend Travis, 16-12
Gall totaled nine goals and two steals to pace Jesuit in their opening games on Saturday. After taking a 3-1 lead late in the first quarter, Tigers scored three times in the final minute of the frame for a 4-3 edge. The teams traded scores for much of the second quarter with Travis leading 7-6 at the break. Gall scored twice in the last 80 seconds of the third quarter and three times to start the fourth to put Jesuit ahead 13-9. The Rangers extended their run to 7-0 as they stretched the lead to 16-9.

Game 4 - def. Keller, 10-9
Sophomore Aiden Reardon scored with 13 seconds left to lift Jesuit to a 10-9 victory over Keller. It was the Rangers' fourth win in the last five meetings against the Indians. Senior Cayden Bartusek made six saves in goal. Gall collected four goals and three assists. Senior Jack Stevens had a goal and four assists.

The Rangers will return to the pool on Monday when they travel to Flower Mound Marcus for a varsity contest. The game will be played at the LISD Westside Aquatic Center at 4 p.m.
