LEWISVILLE, Texas - The Jesuit Dallas water polo team split a pair of games on the opening day of the Texas Cup at the LISD Eastside Aquatic Center. The Rangers fell to Austin Westlake 15-6 before defeating Walnut Grove 22-9.

In the first contest against WHS, the Rangers fell behind 8-1 in the first quarter and were unable to overcome the large deficit. Senior Charlie Gall and junior Aidan Reardon each had a pair of goals and junior Tamer Nino handed out three assists.

In the evening contest against the Wildcats, Jesuit got a career-high six goals from sophomore Raymond Zhang and six assists from junior Mateo Combs. The Rangers got a strong performance in goal from senior Andres Acosta, who stopped four shots. The Blue and Gold scored the first four goals and led 11-4 at halftime and 19-6 at the end of the third quarter.

The Rangers will face Bridgeland on Friday at 8 a.m. to conclude pool play. The match-ups for bracket play will be announced later in the morning with play beginning at 1 p.m. at the LISD Eastside Aquatic Center.
