Robinson has served as the head coach for Jesuit's cross country and track & field programs since the 2013-14 academic year. Under his leadership, the Jesuit Dallas cross country team has secured four district titles in cross country, and earned the first UIL team championship berth in program history. In track & field, Jesuit has won five district titles and has sent several student-athletes to success at the regional and state level.
Prior to joining the Rangers, Robinson served 24 years as head coach at Poteet High School, where his teams amassed 19 district championships, 12 regional titles, and three state crowns. During his tenure at Poteet, he coached six All-Americans and 10 individual state champions. Robinson was inducted into the Mesquite ISD Hall of Honor in 2020.
Robinson hails from the Texas Panhandle town of Booker where he gained recognition as a state champion middle distance runner. He attended McMurray University on a track scholarship and received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1973. While at McMurray, Robinson set the school record in the mile and was a two-time NAIA nationally-ranked performer.
He later received his master’s degree from Texas Tech University before settling in the Mesquite Independent School District in 1974. Robinson and his wife, Sarah, have two children.
