Herrema was named the seventh director of athletics in the history of the School on January 15, 2025 and becomes just the third person to hold the post since 1971. As head of the Jesuit Dallas athletics program, Herrema will oversee personnel management, operations, and budgeting for 22 high school varsity programs, 48 teams, and over 800 student-athletes.
"It is an incredible honor to be named the Jesuit Dallas Athletic Director," Herrema shared. "Jesuit is home to outstanding student-athletes and highly respected coaches, making this a unique opportunity to build upon the storied history of Ranger Athletics. My mission is to uphold the legacy of Men for Others while striving to elevate the program to new heights of success, both on and off the field."
President Mike Earsing added, "I would like to extend my deepest thanks to the search committee for their time, energy, and talent. We are fortunate to be able to continue the legacy of strong Jesuit athletic leadership with the hiring of Kyle."
Jesuit Dallas competes in the largest classification of the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the athletic governing body for public and charter schools in Texas. Since joining the UIL in 2003, the Rangers have won 73 district titles at the 5A and 6A levels and added to the School's staggering total of 129 team state championships. In 2010, Jesuit's soccer team, which was ranked No. 1 in the ESPN Rise National Rankings, became the first private school team to win a UIL state title. Since then, Jesuit has captured UIL state championships in baseball and a second title in soccer, while also winning multiple state championships in lacrosse and rugby.
Herrema joined the Jesuit Dallas athletics staff in June 2025 as an associate athletic director. Prior to his arrival to Jesuit Dallas, Herrema served as assistant athletic director and head men's basketball coach at Lovejoy High School. As a senior member of Lovejoy's leadership team, Herrema's responsibilities included hiring, training, and evaluation of staff, facility maintenance, and compliance for one of the most successful UIL 5A athletic programs in Texas. During Herrema's tenure with the Leopards, Lovejoy captured 19 UIL team state championships and was a three-time recipient of the Lone Star Cup, which honors the best overall athletic and academic program in Texas.
