Roy won the district shot put championship with a personal-best 48'11'', earning his ticket to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Area Round. The junior bested the field by over two feet while increasing his previous season best throw of 46'7 3/4'' recorded at the Jesuit-Sheaner Relays.
