Howell scored the eventual game-winner midway through the second overtime period, helping push the Rangers to the UIL 6A State Championship Area Round with a 3-1, overtime victory over Richardson. The senior's seventh goal of the season, which ties the team-high, was tallied on a corner attempt by classmate Griffin Scott, sneaking pass the Eagles' goalkeeper and into the net to put the Rangers ahead in the game.
