The Jesuit varsity football squad returned to its winning ways with a 56-29 victory over Irving at Postell Stadium. The Rangers recorded over 600 yards of total offense, led by Bo Schneider's 431 passing yards and five touchdowns. The UCF commit threw TDs to Garrett Amy, Matt Miller, Peter Lynch, and two to Charlie Eikenberg, bringing his season total to 26 strikes.
Miller got the action started with a 97-yard touchdown reception early in the first quarter. On the ensuing kickoff, Irving's Raekwon Young brought back a 99-yard return to give the Tigers a 7-6 lead. Jesuit responded with an athletic Eikenberg TD on their last drive of the quarter, and a Matt Slovak one yard TD run on the first drive of the next quarter. Slovak (pictured above)Â would add two more touchdowns on the night, earning his season high of three scoring plays, and earning a spot among this week's Players of the Week.
Defensively the Rangers had excellent pass coverage from Jett Leonard, and a key end zone stop by Esteban Garcia. Peyton Long and Matt Hever set the tone up front for Jesuit. The win came on Teacher Appreciation Night at Postell Stadium, after Jesuit faculty members donned Ranger jerseys through the halls during the school day. The team selected Mr. Ben Kirby, Assistant Principal for Academics, as their honorary captain.
