Bo Schneider passed for 262 yards and four scores, Matt Slovak easily topped 100 yards on the ground, and Jesuit's defense pieced together a suffocating performance at the line of scrimmage, as the Rangers cruised to a 51-27 victory over Irving Nimitz on Senior Night at Postell Stadium.
Jesuit's (5-2, 3-1 9-6A) first possession of the game chewed up nearly half of the first quarter, while Slovak punctuated the strong start with an 11-yard touchdown run to the outside.
Backed up on its initial drive, a bad snap over the head of Nimitz (3-4, 2-2) signal-caller Jimmy Clark got the Jesuit defense involved early, as a number of Rangers' piled on a diving Clark in the end zone for a safety. On the ensuing kickoff, Jesuit's Matt Miller returned the kick 70 yards for another Jesuit score (pictured above). Less than two minutes later, Schneider hooked up with Garrett Amy on a 29-yard touchdown, as the Blue and Gold pushed its lead to 22-0 with 3:52 left in the opening frame.
Nimitz sliced into the deficit at the end of the first quarter with a 68-yard pitch and catch from Clark to D'angelo Allen, but another safety by the Jesuit defense on the team's next offensive series killed any momentum the Vikings were vying to mount.
Charlie Eikenberg, who finished the game with 143 yards receiving, caught a 45-yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds remaining in the second quarter in another example of the Rangers' explosive aerial attack, and Jesuit, which yielded just eight yards rushing in the first half, broke to the locker room ahead, 37-14.
Schneider and Eikenberg connected for scores two times early in the fourth quarter, while pushing Schneider's touchdown total for the year to an area-high 30. Slovak finished with a game-high 130 yards rushing on 19 carries.
