Bo Schneider threw for four touchdowns Friday as the Rangers dropped a physical battle to nationally-recognized Skyline, 56-30. Jesuit struck first with a 24-yard field goal from junior
John Wengierski, but got a quick response from Skyline, which is ranked No. 7 in Texas by
The Dallas Morning News and ranked No. 15 in the nation by MaxPreps.
Senior Garrett Amy caught two touchdowns, bringing his season total to 11. Schneider's four upped his season numbers to 21 TDs and 1325 yards. Senior Peter Lynch and juinor Max Loughborough also caught TDs, while senior Charlie Eikenberg, primarily a wide receiver, appeared at quarterback for the second straight week. Eikenberg joined Schneider, Amy, Loughborough, Lynch, and offensive lineman Andrew Murphy as offensive Players of the Week.
Skyline's Daleon Ward had an impressive evening for the Raiders, establishing a potent ground game. Jesuit's offense also impressed, out-passing Skyline by more than 200 yards. The two teams are predicted to finish first and second in District 9-6A, though Skyline will automatically qualify as Division I while Jesuit would likely register as Division II in the event of a playoff berth. The loss drops the Rangers to 3-2 (1-1) as they prepare for Irving at home on October 10.
