The Jesuit football season came to an end this weekend with a 48-27 loss to the undefeated Rockwall Yellow Jackets in the Area Round of the UIL 6A Playoffs. It was Jesuit's third consecutive season in the Area Round, and its fifth consecutive playoff appearance.
The Rangers had a 20-19 lead at the half against Rockwall, thanks to two touchdown passes from Bo Schneider and two field goals from Connor Lanpher. Schneider hit fellow senior Garrett Amy on the game's opening drive for a 32-yard TD, then found classmate Charlie Eikenberg for a 74-yard strike early in the second quarter. Lanpher's 33-yard field goal in the first quarter gave Jesuit the lead, then his 25-yard kick in the second regained Jesuit's advantage just before intermission. Schneider hit Eikenberg for pay dirt again in the third quarter, but Rockwall's Xavier Castillo proved too much to handle, as he scored four touchdowns on the afternoon.
Jesuit finishes the season with an 8-4 record, and bids farewell to a talented group of seniors. Schneider led all area quarterbacks in touchdowns (45) and passing yards (3,492) this season. Amy finished second in the area with 18 TD catches, and third with 1,346 receiving yards. Eikenberg finished the year with 14 TD receptions and 947 total yards, Peter Lynch closes out the year with 8 TD catches and 624 yards, while running back Matt Slovak rushed for 16 touchdowns and 1,035 yards.
"It was a fun ride this year, and a very exciting season," head coach Brandon Hickman said. "I'm so proud of our guys, particularly this group of seniors. They conducted themselves with class each and every week, and I know as they move on in life they will continue to grow into great men."
