Jesuit's offense struck early and often as quarterback
Bo Schneider found the end zone three times in the first quarter, upping his season total to 17 TDs. Senior receivers
Tommy Secules,
Charlie Eikenberg and
Matt Helm each caught touchdowns for Jesuit, while classmate
Matt Slovak scored his fifth TD of the season on a three-yard run. Later in the game, Helm would score again on a shovel pass from Eikenberg, who quarterbacked the offense for the final three quarters. Eikenberg achieved the rare feat of catching a touchdown and passing for a touchdown in the same game.
The Rangers also had a strong defensive showing, including a safety in the first quarter led by senior
Taylor Stine. Junior lineman
Joseph Stautner impressed up front, while fellow junior
Christian Nelson registered a team-high three sacks on the night. In the secondary, defensive back
Esteban Garcia wreaked havoc of the Bison offense, as Jesuit held Sunset (1-3, 0-1) to their lowest point total of the season.
A number of other juniors got in on the action.
Adam Holtz (pictured above) scored on a 44-yard run to open the second half,
Connor Lanpher was a perfect 3-for-3 on point-after-attempts, and John Wengeirski hit a 27-yard field goal to cap the Ranger scoring in the fourth quarter. Jesuit carries their 3-1 (1-0) record into Friday's match-up against state-ranked No. 8 Skyline at Forester Field.
