The Rangers rebounded from an overtime setback last Thursday with a resounding, 4-0 win over Allen on Thursday night at the Dr. Pepper Star Center Ice Arena.
Michael Schmidt has caught fire during the early stages of the season, recording the team's first hat trick of the season in Jesuit's 4-3, shootout loss to Plano East/Lovejoy last week. Schmidt struck again, scoring the Rangers' fourth goal of Thursday's clash to prevent a two-game skid.Â
Carson Platt,
Louis Helsen IV and
Nicholas Gibbs each contributed a goal, with Helsen,
Preston Schwartz and
Nicholas Colombo tacking on assists. Jesuit Dallas goalie
Royce Allred made 12 stops in net en route to his first shutout of the season.
Jesuit Dallas (2-2) started off the game with an offensive outburst, scoring three first period goals, including two in the first five minutes of the contest. Platt kicked off the scoring with 11:24 remaining in the first off of a pass by Helsen, with Helsen adding a goal of his own 19 seconds later, a Ranger tally assisted by Schwartz.
Gibbs closed the first period scoring, finding the back of the net with 2:08 left on the clock. In total, the Rangers peppered the Eagles goalie with 16 shots in the first period, taking a 3-0 advantage into the second.Â
After a scoreless second period, Schmidt scored his fourth goal and sixth point of the season 31 seconds into the third to close the scoring for the Blue and Gold.
The Rangers will next take on John Paul II at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 22.
