Shawn Regan pulled down a season-high 14 rebounds while sophomore
Marcus Hill netted a team-leading 18 points, helping the Jesuit Dallas Rangers to a 71-58 win over Grand Prairie in the opening round of the In-and-Out Allen Holiday Invitational Basketball Tournament on Monday afternoon at Allen High School.
Advancing to the second round of the Randolph Brooks Federal Credit Union Big School Bracket, the Rangers (8-4) shot .346 from the floor and .424 from three-point range, acquiring a convincing, 54-40 rebound advantage which included 36 defensive boards. The Jesuit Dallas defense additionally locked down on Grand Prairie's shooters, limiting the Gophers to 26 percent total shooting and 24.5 percent on three-pointers.
Regan closed out the game one point shy of a double double, recording nine points in addition with his eye-opening rebounding numbers. The senior split his boards equally between the offensive and defensive side of the ball, pulling down seven rebounds on each side of the court.
Hill shot 64 percent on the afternoon, including 4-of-5 from three point range to finish Monday's bout with his third highest point total of the season. Over his last five games, Hill has averaged 13.2 points per game. Sophomore
Michael Jankovich finished the contest with 15 points, finishing the afternoon converting 94 percent (15-of-16) of his free-throw attempts. Junior

The Rangers will await the winner of the St. Mark's/Richardson Berkner contest in a tournament quarterfinal set for Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. Jesuit Dallas will play two games on Tuesday, competing in its second game of the day at either 5:30 p.m. or 8:30 p.m., the final time of which will depend on the result of the Rangers' quarterfinal contest.
