Jesuit Dallas finished the contest shooting 59.6 from the floor and 12-of-20 from beyond the three-point line, converting 14-of-17 free-throw attempts. In addition, the Blue and Gold scored 33 points in the paint and 25 points off of 14 Tiger turnovers, recording 18 second chance points on 11 total offensive boards.
Jankovich started the contest 5-for-5 from the floor and 3-for-3 from range, sparking an 18-2, game opening run for the Blue and Gold, allowing Jesuit to take a 26-5 lead into the second quarter. However, the Tigers (6-7, 0-1) used a resurgent frontcourt and 10 Jesuit turnovers to outscore the Rangers, 18-13, in the second quarter, sending the Blue and Gold into the halftime break with a 39-23 advantage.
The Irving defensive pressure continued in the third, forcing another six Jesuit turnovers, but were unable to close the gap further after shooting 6-of-15 from the field, sending the contest into the fourth with the Rangers holding a 55-38 lead.Â
The Rangers dominated the fourth, 25-5, only missing a single shot attempt in the quarter and going 4-for-for from distance. Hill recorded eight points for the Rangers in the final quarter to help the Rangers cruise to the decisive victory while scoring their second highest point total of the season, and the highest point total in regulation during the 2015-16 campaign.
Jesuit Dallas will next take on Nimitz in a Tuesday evening road contest, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Nimitz High School. The Blue and Gold will return to the friendly confines of Walsh Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 8, welcoming W.T. White for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
