Rangers Keep Momentum in Convincing Win over Allen

Five different Rangers found the back of the net to propel Jesuit Dallas to a dominant, 6-0 win over Allen on Thursday, Jan. 7 at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Richardson, Texas.

Hitting the ice for the first time since a dramatic, 5-3, comeback win over first place Coppell on Dec. 17, Jesuit Dallas (6-4-0) tied a season-high in scoring, netting six goals for the second time this season and the first time since a 6-1 win over John Paul II on Oct. 29.  Nicholas Colombo anchored the Rangers' offense, scoring a pair of goals, while Carson Platt tallied his sixth goal of the season, adding three assists.

Preston Schwartz, JonMikal Dragojevic and Michael Schmidt earned spots in the scoring column, while Bryce Clark, Matthew Wrobel and Nicholas Mersch each logged an assist.  Ranger goalie Royce Allred recorded his third shutout of the season, turning aside 29 shots to earn his fourth victory of the 2015-16 season.

Platt opened the scoring with a goal less than a minute into the game, only needing 49 seconds to find twine and put the Rangers ahead.  Schwartz scored the Rangers' second goal of the period with 7:14 left in the first, collecting a pass from Mersch and sending it past the Eagles' net minder for the 2-0 lead.

Colombo scored his first goal of the game on a power play five minutes into the second off of assists by Clark and Platt before Dragojevic spotted the Rangers a four-goal lead headed into the third with an unassisted goal, his second tally of the season.  Platt found Colombo again for a goal with 4:05 remaining in the third before assisting on Schmidt's short-handed goal with 2:58 remaining in the game.

The Rangers will next battle John Paul II at the StarCenter in Richardson at 7:45 p.m. on Jan. 14.  On Oct. 29, Jesuit Dallas defeated John Paul II, 6-1, for their first win of the season during the first of three meetings between the two squads.
