Junior Ethan Moore scored his first goal of the 2016 campaign midway through the second half, propelling the Jesuit Dallas Rangers to the championship game of the 2016 Jesuit-Meintser Soccer Invitational with a 1-0 triumph over Sachse on Friday evening at Postell Stadium.
After an evenly played first half between the two squads, the Rangers (2-0-0) began to gather momentum in the latter half before finally breaking through in the 63rd minute. Moore was able to collect a contested corner kick, sending it past the Mustang goalkeeper for the only tally of the semifinal. Ranger junior
Luke Ostrander made five saves in net en route to his second consecutive clean sheet of the season.
On Saturday, the Rangers will compete in the Meintser Soccer Invitational Championship at 4 p.m. against Flower Mound Marcus, who defeated Skyline to punch a ticket to Saturday's championship round.Â
Saturday's matchup will feature the two most successful programs in the history of the season-opening invitational. Jesuit Dallas will look for its 15th Meintser Invitational championship, a tournament record, and first tournament title since 2013. The Marauders last won the title in 2014, and aim to claim their eighth invitational crown.
