Anthony Calabrese scored the overtime game-winner 13 seconds into the extra session, pushing Jesuit to its first win to the season, 2-1, over Plano East on October 6.
After a scoreless first period, Calabrese lit the lamp for the first time this season on a power play with 13:38 remaining in the second period. Jesuit (1-1-0) was out-shot, 41-24, but a 40-save outing by
Royce Allred kept the Blue and Gold in contention.
The Wolves (1-1-0) netted the equalizer 21 seconds into the third, but could not get another of their 17 third-period shots into the back of the net to force the extra session.
Entering overtime on the power play, Jesuit secured the puck and
Carson Platt found Calabrese for the game-winner. Jesuit went 2-for-2 in extra man opportunities on Thursday, scoring the team's first two power play goals of the year.
Next, Jesuit will travel to North Richland Hills and the NYTEX Sports Centre to battle Keller on Thursday, October 13 at 8:30 p.m.
