The Jesuit Dallas hockey team ended 2016 on a high note, winning its second consecutive game, 3-1, over Plano West on Thursday.
Â
Two unanswered goals by the Rangers in the first five minutes sparked the Blue and Gold to their fourth win of the season, while a 16-save performance by
Royce Allred highlighted an inspired defensive performance.
Preston Schwartz recorded his second consecutive two-point outing, scoring his third goal of the year while adding his fourth assist.
Â
Carson Platt found twine for the second time this year, scoring what would be the game-winning goal while
Bryce Clark scored his first goal of the season, sealing the victory with an empty-netter in the third.
Â
Schwartz opened the Ranger scoring 90 seconds into the contest with a goal assisted by
Brendan Gibbs and
Alexander McBey, assisting on Platt's tally at the 10:46 mark alongside
Nicholas Gibbs. Allred withstood two power play opportunities and eight shots by Plano West in the second period, and the Rangers responded by taking over offensive momentum in the third.
Â
Jesuit placed nine shots on target in the final period, while the defense turned aside five chances from the Wolves, clinching the win on Clark's empty-netter, assisted by
Anthony Calabrese, with 2:09 left in the game.
Â
The Rangers will break for the holiday season and return to play on Thursday, January 5 against Keller. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:45 p.m. at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Richardson.
