Marcus Hill earned All-Tournament honors, scoring 19 points to lead Jesuit to the In-and-Out Burger Allen Holiday Invitational Consolation Championship with a 60-47 win over Berkner on Thursday at Allen High School.

Hill, who averaged 15.8 points per game during the four-game tournament, shot 3-of-7 from distance and 47 percent from the floor, adding four rebounds and two assists. Jesuit (11-6) will enter 2017 on a three-game winning streak, scoring 16 points off of 18 Berkner turnovers.

Reid Hatzmann tied his season-high with 10 assists, tacking on five boards and two steals. Sophomore
Max Abmas matched Hill's 19 points, helping Jesuit to a perfect 10-for-10 afternoon from the charity stripe with four successful free throw attempts. Senior

Michael Jankovich recorded his third consecutive double-digit outing with 12 points.

Jesuit opened the game on a 15-2 run, starting the contest 5-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. Jesuit took a 29-14 into halftime and held the Rams offense at bay in the second half, withstanding an third quarter opening, 5-2 run by Berkner with seven unanswered points to increase the lead to 17 points.

Berkner mounted a late comeback, holding Jesuit to 2-of-6 from the floor while using a 13-4 run to cut the advantage to eight, but the Rangers outscored the Rams, 8-3, over the final 1:06 to secure the win in an early preview of University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A competition.

The Rangers will return to district play on Tuesday, January 3, when the Blue and Gold will travel to J.J. Pearce High School to meet the Mustangs. Jesuit returns to Walsh Gymnasium on Friday, January 6 against the Lake Highlands Wildcats.
