A pair of goals by
Michael Schmidt began the Rangers' final week of the regular season with a 4-2 win over Allen on Tuesday evening at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Richardson.
Schmidt,
Preston Schwartz and
JonMikal Dragojevic each lit the lamp for Jesuit, who clinched a playoff berth with 31 points in the standings.Â
Louis Helsen IV, Nicholas Mersch,
Bryce Clark and
Duncan Cadeddu each recorded an assist, while
George McBey made 28 saves en route to securing his fifth win of the year.
Jesuit Dallas scored two unanswered goals in the first period, opening the scoring with a goal by Dragojevic from Clark and Helsen midway through the opening stanza before Schmidt found the back of the net with 46 seconds remaining in the period.Â
The Rangers shook off a goal by Allen in the waning moments of the opening period, finally breaking through in the second with 43 seconds remaining on Schmidt's second goal of the evening and 11th goal of the season.Â
Allen scored with 4:45 left in the third period to close the Jesuit Dallas lead to a single goal, but Schwartz's fifth goal of the year with 39 seconds remaining in the contest ended any hope for an Eagles' comeback.
On Thursday, Feb. 25, the Rangers will close the regular season with an 8 p.m. bout against John Paul II at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Plano.
