Game Recap: Lacrosse - Class A |

Rangers Split Two-Game Series in Phoenix

The No. 1 Texas state-ranked Rangers split a two-game series in Phoenix, Arizona, upending Brophy (Az.), 16-3 on Mar. 19, after falling to perrenial national power Gonzaga (D.C.), 18-7, the previous day.

Junior Daniel Burnum tallied seven goals over the two-games, logging a game-high three tallies against Gonzaga before matching sophomore Grayson Hassell's team-leading four goals against Brophy.  Senior Garrett Munck scored twice against Gonzaga, while seniors John Michael Priddy, Jack Freeman, Blake Buell, juniors Reece Ellison and Michael Kelley, sophomore David Sprock and freshman Jacob Jackson also found twine.

Ellison added a team-leading five ground balls against Brophy while sophomore Jack Tabor secured three ground balls against Gonzaga to lead the Rangers.  Junior goalkeeper Luke Millican recorded 10 saves over the two games, including six stops against Brophy.

In Saturday's contest, five different Rangers found the back of the net to open the scoring on a 5-0 run.  Shaking off a pair of first quarter tallies by Brophy, Jesuit Dallas would close out the contest on an 11-1 run, including nine unanswered goals down the stretch to secure the convincing victory.

Gonzaga, who ended the 2015 season ranked No. 3 in the nation according to LaxPower.com, scored eight unanswered goals to start the game before Burnum broke through for the Rangers with 3:18 remaining in the opening quarter.  Munck and Burnum each tallied two second half goals and Sprock added a third quarter tally, but the opening run by Gonzaga was too much to overcome, and the Eagles won 19-of-26 faceoffs en route to the win.

Jesuit Dallas will return to Postell Stadium for a three-game home stand beginning on Thursday, Mar. 24 against Coppell.  The Blue and Gold will then host St. Mark's on Apr. 1 before welcoming Indianapolis Catholic on Apr. 3.
