Game Recap: Lacrosse - Class A |

Rangers Rout Dragons on Senior Night

The No. 2 Jesuit Dallas lacrosse program celebrated senior night with an 11-2 rout of Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) opponent Southlake Carroll on Tuesday evening at Postell Stadium.

Senior Garrett Munck tallied four goals to lead the team, which saw five different Rangers find twine en route to a dominating effort.  Sophomore David Sprock tallied three goals, joined by two goals from fourth year Jack Freeman and additional tallies from fourth year Zachary Kissick and junior Trey Wiederecht.

Jesuit Dallas (13-2-0), ranked No. 2 in the most recent LaxPower.com Texas State Computer Rankings, enjoyed a decisive advantage in several critical offensive categories, most notably a 33-14 difference in ground ball pickups.  Juniors Dixon Smith, Daniel Burnum and sophomore Jack Tabor each secured five or more ground balls, with Smith and Burnum tying for the team lead with six each.

Kissick finished the evening with a full stat column, adding three assists and four ground balls to his fourth quarter goal.  Luke Millican picked up the win in the cage; making six saves during the complete game effort.

Freeman, Munck and Sprock jump-started the offense, putting the Rangers up early with three goals in the first four minutes of the opening quarter.  Southlake Carroll (3-8-0) scored its first goal of the game with 8:07 remaining in the first, but were shut out until the third quarter.  Sprock closed the first quarter by scoring a goal with five seconds remaining in the opening stanza before a second quarter tally by Munck sent the Rangers into halftime with a 5-1 advantage.

The Ranger defense held Southlake Carroll scoreless for 23 minutes of game time spanning the first, second and third quarters, a streak snapped when Southlake Carroll answered an early third quarter goal by Freeman with 8:57 remaining in the third.  However, it was the final time that Southlake Carroll would find twine, while the Rangers erupted for six unanswered goals to close out the game.

Back-to-back goals by Sprock improved the Rangers' lead to six, while goals by Munck, Wiederecht, and Kissick in the fourth quarter provided a bookend to a dominant performance.

In addition to the victory, Jesuit Dallas celebrated the careers of the 11-member Class of 2016.  Seven members of the Ranger lacrosse senior class will go on to play at the collegiate level, including four who have committed to play for NCAA Division I institutions.

On Friday, Apr. 22, Jesuit Dallas next battle Texas state-ranked No. 3 Episcopal inside Postell Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
