A dominant showing by the Jesuit Dallas bowling team opened 2017 with a 15-0 sweep over The Winston School on Tuesday, January 10 at USA Bowl in Dallas.
Â
The afternoon started with a singles sweep, featuring a team-high 214 from senior
Chad Uy. Sophomore
Morgan Smerge posted an eyebrow-raising 186, followed by a 184 by junior
Solon Hamer and a 125 from second year
Bryce Clark. The convincing performance from the Rangers in singles play resulted in a 7-0 lead heading into the baker games.
Â
Winston led early in the first baker, but Hamer and Uy kept Jesuit in firm control with a late surge to secure the win. The Rangers then swept their way through the second and third baker games to finish the sweep.
Â
"The strength and experience of the upperclassmen kicked in on those last two frames," commented Jesuit Dallas head coach
Ken Howell. "Solon picked up a much needed spare in the ninth and Chad then finished the game off with two strikes in the 10th frame. The captains really stepped up for their team when they needed to."
Â
Jesuit remains unbeaten on the season with the victory, and will continue the campaign on Saturday, January 14 against local rival LD Bell. Saturday's meet between two of the top teams in the Metroplex will begin at 9:30 a.m. at the ITZ Bowling Center in Euless, Texas.
