Jesuit Dallas racked up 14 team assists, a decisive rebounding advantage and a strong shooting performance to upend the Coppell Cowboys in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A action on Tuesday night at Walsh Gym.

Marcus Hill, who also dragged down a team-high nine rebounds. Jesuit (16-8) shot 61.8 percent from the floor and 9-of-19 from behind the arc, out-rebounding Coppell, 33-17. Junior
Michael Jankovich recorded a team-high eight assists, scoring 11 points to aid the Jesuit effort.

Coppell led, 8-6, four minutes into the opening quarter, but Jesuit responded with an 11-5 run to take a four-point lead in the second. Heading into halftime on a 7-2 run and an eight-point lead, the Ranger erupted out of the gate with 11 unanswered points to start the second half, holding Coppell to 0-for-4 from the floor and taking a dominating, 35-16 lead three minutes into the third.

The Rangers held a double digit lead down the stretch, leading by a game-high 24 points with 1:48 remaining in the second. Jesuit shot 14-of-19 in the second half, hitting four three-pointers, forcing three Coppell turnovers and cruised to the victory.

Jesuit will next battle J.J. Pearce on Friday, January 27 to continue district competition. The Rangers and Mustangs will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
