Hockey Falls to Allen in TAHA State Tournament Opener

The Rangers kicked off the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) State Tournament with a 2-1 setback against Allen on Tuesday, Jan. 25 in McKinney, Texas. The first of a two-game preliminary series to determine the state finalists, Jesuit will continue battling for a spot in the TAHA State Championship on Saturday against Southlake Carroll.

Andrew Ngov scored a second period goal for the Rangers, helping Jesuit respond to two unanswered first period goals by the Eagles. Allen scored two goals within 20 seconds in the first, and held the Rangers at bay in the third period, despite Jesuit earning a pair of power play opportunities late.

Royce Allred made 25 saves in goal for the Blue and Gold, and Bryce Clark assisted on Ngov's tally. Saturday's puck drop between the Rangers and Dragons is set for 1 p.m. from the StarCenter in Frisco, Texas. The Rangers will compete on Sunday at either 10 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. if they advance to the TAHA State Championship round.
